English to French material can be extremely beneficial once you have reached a certain level.
However, you need to make sure the material is appropriate to your level, and preferably taken from stories you already know.
Knowing the characters and the plot helps you guess a lot of the new words you encounter, making sure that:
1. You don’t get it wrong
2. You become more confident about the things that you are reading
3. You know they are adapted to your level, and find yourself being able to understand almost everything.
