5. French culture has shaped Europe as well as the world.

From the Greeks to the Romans to the French to the British, geography has it that France has pretty much always been in the middle of something. The French have inevitably influences the British, which in turn were to influence the world, and now through American power.

Between north and south, between east and west, France culture has always been shaped by the multiple influences around.

In modern times, as the British and the French set out to conquer most parts of the world (for better or worse…), their culture has shaped a huge number of places around the world.

A few examples:

– the Channel Islands between the UK and France (Jersey and Guernesey)

– the Latin heritage in the English language, with words sometimes twisted ‘the French way’ before making their way to Britain
